If you have a small bathroom but want to make the most of the space you have, one of the things you can change or work on is the sink. Sinks take up a lot of room, normally, and there are several ways to improve this area of your bathroom décor so that your bathroom will not seem as small and will be more comfortable to move around in.
Bathroom sinks come in many different style and sizes. Some styles are better suited to small spaces and others are appropriate only for large bathrooms. One of the best things you can do to make your bathroom seem larger is to choose the right kind of sink. Vanity sinks take up the most amount of room because you need to install a cabinet along with the sink. If your bathroom is small, then the vanity sink is the last kind you want. Basin sinks often are installed on top of a cabinet as well, but they do not have to be. You could install the basin on top of a counter with four legs underneath it leaving the space under the sink open.
Open space is a great way to make any small space seem bigger. That is why the console sink is a great choice for smaller bathrooms. The console sink is a sink that is built into a table of sorts where the back of the table is attached to the wall and the front of the table is supported by two legs. The open space underneath gives the feeling that there is more room in the bathroom than there is. You can even get a double console sink for small bathroom spaces. Sometimes the double console sinks will have a third leg in between the two sinks, but not always.
Another type of bathroom sink that works well in small bathrooms and particularly in powder rooms is the pedestal sink. The pedestal is a sink standing on a single leg which usually is quite substantial. The pedestal gives the same impression of large size as the console sink because there is open space under the sink.
