The more money you can keep in your pocket, especially during moving time when your cash is probably all spent, the better. The best way to get started is to make an organized list of the different companies in your area. Stick with the more local companies as it will save you the cost of their travel time getting to you. Obviously the main point is to compare rates between these different moving companies but also it is wise to do a bit of research.

Most places actually charge if you want to take boxes but you should be able to find at least a few here for no charge. They are there to help people so they should be more than willing to give you a few boxes to help with the move.
The same goes for any extra supplies you may need for the big move, such as tape to hold the boxes shut and they may even cover some of the moving labor costs. It is worth looking more into and could save you a ton of money you will need for getting set up in your new place.
