There are a lot of uses for garage heaters. Sometimes, there is work to be done that just can’t be taken care of inside of the house. During the summer, this isn’t always a problem because your garage is providing adequate amounts of heat. Unfortunately though, having to work outside during the winter is very uncomfortable, and sometimes downright painful. During the colder seasons, electric garage heaters help to warm the area around you, giving you the feeling back in your fingers and allowing you to properly focus on the tasks at hand, without having to deal with the frigid temperatures.
Before you purchase an electric garage heater, you’re going to want to make sure you know how to judge their heat output and compare it against the cost of the unit. Some of these, such as a natural gas garage heater, can cost you exorbitant amounts of money, so unless you are in a position of using it in a commercial garage, or are required to heat a larger area, you can save yourself a lot of money just by knowing what to look for when you head into the home improvement store.
Garage gas heaters are measured by BTU, or the amount of heat they can put out at one time. A typical unit for a 1,000 square foot garage will range from 15,000 BTU to 30,000 BTU. You can either purchase a model that uses an electric fan to disperse the heat, or even flat panel models that are simply a heat providing shield, but cost much less. A good starting price range for a 1,000 square foot garage would be around $200 to $400. In this price range, you will get a great value, without having to spend too much money.
Once you have figured out the size you need to be looking for while you are browsing the garage space heaters, you will have to determine which style you are going to buy. If you have an electrical outlet available, you can get much better heat dispersion with the use of a fan that is often included in the garage heater. However, if you don’t have the source of electricity, you will want to find heaters for a garage that are powered by gas, and may or may not have a fan on them to help blow the warm air through the garage.
