Garage Door Parts That Really Spring into Action!

Did you know that the creation of the garage evolved from carriage houses that once contained horses and buggies? Of course the concept only makes sense that we would want to have our vehicles near our homes where we could easily access them and protect them. So the first garage’s were created in the early 1900’s right along with the first cars. Like the first cars the garages have made a lot of improvements and their usability has greatly improved over time.

The springs that were added to the garage doors were likely one of the best improvements that could have been made. You can argue that the garage door opener is the best improvement but if you stop and think about it, with out those springs those doors just wouldn’t open the same. The spring mechanism is what makes the door so easy to open and close! With out it you would be trying to control all of the weight of the door with your bare hands.

Garage door springs are often one of the most over looked parts of your garage and they take the most ware and tare! The trouble is that they are not really thought about and there for they are not looked at as much as they should be. In fact, if your garage is more than five years old you should really take a good look at the garage springs and make sure that they are in good working order. The last thing that you want to have happen is for a spring to break on your garage door leaving you with a open or closed door and no way to fix it!

Finding replacement parts for a garage door is no easy task and finding the right springs is even more difficult. Its not like your local hardware store keeps things like this in stalk for each different type of garage door. In most cases if a garage door spring breaks the owner may have to replace the entire door unless they know where to look for a new set of springs. Its important to know that you should not just replace one if it looks like one is going to break or if one has broken, you really should replace them both. It might surprise you to know that there are many websites out there where you can find replacement springs and other such replacement parts for your garage door!
