5 Tips To Perfect Closet Organization

Everyone loves the idea of having a perfectly organized closet with everything in it’s proper place. Unfortunately not everyone knows how to get that amazingly perfect closet. While a closet organization system can be a big help, there are some other things you can do first to help get ready for that new system. Below are a list of five things you can do to help get yourself started.

  1. Keep It Simple – Follow the age old rule KISS or keep it simple stupid. It sounds crazy, but simplicity can be a key roll in having an organized closet. Part of keeping it simple is to throw away what you don’t need. Take a step back and really think if you need to keep each item. If you don’t need it, donate it to a charity that can take advantage of it.
  2. Stick With It – It’s easy to get overwhelmed when trying to clean out your closet and get ready for that perfect closet organization system. It’s like a steep hill though, the beginning is very tough, but once you get past the first bit it’s an easy and very gratifying ride from there on out.
  3. Give And Take – A good way to cut down on the amount of clothing, shoes, and other accessories in your closet is the play the give and take game. For every item you keep, donate another. It’s an easy way to weed out your closet and get it down to what you really like and enjoy wearing.
  4. Don’t Get Sucked In – Don’t get sucked into exceptions. It’s easy to start bending these rules, but its a slippery slope type of game to play. Next thing you’ll be keeping 3 or 4 pieces for everything 1 piece you throw away. Remember it’s not easy at first, but it pays off in the end.
  5. Stay Cohesive – After deciding what you want to keep and what you are donating it’s time to organize. Keep like items together. It makes it easier to see when you are starting to collect to many of any one item which makes it easier to decide when it’s time to donate more items to charity.

Hopefully these tips will help you get your closet in order and ready for the perfect closet organizer system.  Remember that you can always take your used items to a consignment shop instead of donating to charity. It can help fund the new organization system, shelves, or any other items your closet might need to help stay organized.
