Clean Grout like a Professional

If you are anything like me, you clean your grout with a scrub brush on your hands and knees. The process is time consuming and painful to your body. When professionals come to your home to clean your tile grout, it only takes them a short amount of time and they do not use scrub brushes. Instead they have upright machines that they use to clean both tile and grout lines with high pressure steam, down pressure rotating brushes, and/or industrial strength cleaners. If you are interested in cleaning your grout like the professionals do and saving both your knees and your time then read on.

You can buy or rent a grout cleaner machine just like the ones used by grout cleaning services. There are models that use steam. These require that you hook the machine up to a water source. Then, you have to have an outlet for the waste water. This can be kind of messy if you are not properly equipped, so I would recommend a different style grout cleaning machine.

The best tile grout cleaner for the home is one that uses downward pressure brush technology. The brushes rotate and exert downward pressure at the same time doing the job much better than you could do by hand. Some of these models have tanks to dispense cleaner so that you do not have to put the cleaner down on the floor in advance. Others also include a solution recovery system to collect the dirty water once you pass over an area and clean it. Without this addition recovery system the dirty water gets left behind and you need to go back later and vacuum it up with a wet vac or something similar. It is best to do this as quickly as possible so that the dirt does not have time to seep back in to the porous grout.
